The Crow Solicitor was of the opinion

that sufficient evidence was not obtainable to secure a con-

-viation against these three men; it was therefore decided

that they should be dismissed the service and sent bank to

India.

I desire to state that Mr. Gardiner gave i

the Police every nasistance in investigating the enge and it

was mninly owing to him that the fraud was discovered.
